Passed away peacefully on Jan 3, 2025, age 94 at Prince of Wales Retirement Home in Nepean, Ontario. Born in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia on June 21, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Keith Fulton and Isabelle (née Henderson) Fulton.
Claire was an avid fan of the Toronto Blue Jays, the Toronto Raptors and televised curling events. While watching Blue Jays baseball, she routinely kept detailed score using baseball scorecards, meticulously writing out the rosters for both teams and recording the at bat statistics for each player. She enjoyed playing Bridge when opportunities arose and in her spare time, she often enjoyed solving crosswords and other word games.
Claire was married to James Nobel Ballantyne (deceased Jan 1, 2002) and mother to Eric James Ballantyne (deceased Jan 13, 2001) and Ian Keith Ballantyne (wife: Barb Sheehan). Claire was “Nana” to grandsons Rob and Andrew Ballantyne.
Claire is predeceased by her brother Allan Keith Fulton (deceased Jun 17, 2021, predeceased by his wife Connie May 22, 2020). Claire has one neice, Lorrie (husband: Gregor) Sample and 2 nephews, Gordon (wife: Kimberley) Fulton and David (wife: Lori, children: Bryce and Paige) Fulton.
Claire will be missed by her family and friends. She will be laid to rest in Toronto’s Highland Memory Gardens in a plot between her husband Jim and son Eric. A private graveside service will be held.
