In Loving Memory of Carolyn Isabel Greenwood
It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Carolyn (Mom), on October 12, 2026. She was the beloved wife of Jack Greenwood, who predeceased her on August 2, 2025, and his devoted partner in a marriage that lasted just shy of 60 years. She was the loving mother of Darcy Angus and mother-in-law to Chris Angus. She was the daughter of the late Allaster and Marion Linnell, and sister to Lillian Preshing of Edmonton, Alberta. She was a cherished aunt to Bill Preshing, Susan Lesfrud, and Carolyn Preshing, and a great-aunt to David, Emma, Nathan, Soren, and Karen. She also held a special place in the lives of her close cousins Paul Ward and the late Louis Schussler and Richard Ward.
Born and raised in London, Ontario, she was a tall, beautiful woman with thick auburn hair that drew compliments throughout her life. She carried herself with style and confidence, and her creativity and flair were evident from an early age. While working as a legal secretary, she was also a talented seamstress, skilled at creating her own fashionable dresses and outfits.
Throughout their nearly six decades together, she and Jack built a life filled with adventure, and good times. Jack worked in the car business and made sure she always had a sporty car to drive. She loved being behind the wheel and had a zest for driving that matched her spirited personality. Their years together in London, Windsor, and Toronto brought many lasting friendships, along with wonderful memories of formal parties, special events, and the pleasures of sharing life with others.
Of all the roles she held in life, the one she treasured most was being a mother. She often said that her greatest goal was to become a Mom, and when Darcy arrived, her happiness was complete. She devoted herself wholeheartedly to raising her daughter, always encouraging her to be confident, independent, and committed to the things she loved. Through sports such as softball and skiing, she taught Darcy the value of competition, perseverance, and dedication. She was there to cheer at every event, and she volunteered for any role that allowed her to be involved and show her support. Her love was expressed not only in words but in the countless hours she gave, the encouragement she offered, and the unwavering presence she provided.
Animals held a special place in her heart throughout her years. Over more than three decades, she enjoyed the companionship of her daughter and son-in-law’s three dogs. Among them, Wally held an especially treasured place. The affection between them was mutual, and Wally lived with her and Jack for nine years, becoming their devoted companion. She loved him dearly and affectionately called him “her precious.” Their bond was a beautiful reflection of her gentle heart and her capacity to give and receive love.
For the last two years of her life, she resided at Ottawa’s Grace Manor, where she was close to her daughter. The family is deeply grateful to the entire Grace Manor team for the kindness, compassion, and comfort they provided. The staff went above and beyond to make her experience as warm and welcoming as possible. Through their daily care, patience, and genuine devotion, they demonstrated what compassionate support for a vulnerable person should truly be. Their dedication exceeded every expectation, and the family will always be grateful for the dignity and tenderness with which they cared for her.
Though she is now reunited with Jack in memory, she leaves behind a lifetime of cherished moments and a legacy of love that will continue through her daughter, her western family, friends, and all the lives she touched.
She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
A small interment will be held in the spring at Woodland Cemetery.
