Carol Schwarz passed away peacefully on January 27th at the age of 92. She is pre-deceased by her husband Matthias, sister Patricia Camelon, and brother Gerry Shannon. She is survived by Kathy Schwarz, Carol Anne Rainsford (Tom), Maria Schwarz (Wayne), and John Schwarz (Nicole). She will be remembered fondly by her grandchildren Nathan, Heather, Ethan, Owen and Justin, and many nieces and nephews.
Carol spent her life caring for others. After teachers’ college, she taught at primary schools in Ottawa and Calgary for several years. Once she had children, she devoted her time and energy to raising her family. Carol loved singing and listening to music and was a member of several church choirs and the Welsh Choral Society. Over the years, Carol and Matthias travelled extensively, and she developed close bonds with her extended family in Austria. Carol was particularly fond of her grandchildren and loved spending time baking, playing scrabble, reading books, and hearing about their adventures.
Carol was always the steady hand in the family who was quick to welcome and slow to judge. Carol’s kindness, thoughtfulness, and genuine caring for others will be greatly missed. A funeral service will be held at St Paul’s Anglican Church located at 20 Young Rd, in Kanata on Monday March 2nd, starting at 1:30pm, followed by a reception. The family would like to offer their heartfelt thanks to the caring staff at Red Oak.
