Calvin Anthony Sampson

April 26, 1957 — June 19, 2025

With heavy hearts but deep gratitude for a life so beautifully lived, we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved Calvin Anthony (Tony) Sampson on June 19, 2025, in his 68th year.

Calvin was a beacon of kindness, compassion, and quiet strength. His life was a testament to selflessness—always putting others before himself and finding joy in making life better for those he loved. To know Calvin was to experience true warmth and generosity.

A dedicated employee of M-Con Products for many years, Calvin built lasting friendships and touched the lives of countless colleagues. Outside of work, his happiest moments were often spent with his family, creating countless memories with family, friends, and beloved pets.

Calvin faced his eleven-month battle with an aggressive form of stomach cancer with courage, dignity, and an unwavering spirit. His strength inspired all who knew him. How bravely he fought, how fiercely he loved.

He will be deeply missed by his devoted wife Juliet Smith-Sampson; daughters Alcyone Sampson (Errol), Anessa Hoilett, Amy Sampson-Francis (Henry), and Aisha Sampson; son Jayeel; grandsons Jay and Uriah; granddaughter Ariel Nesbeth; and our fur babies Tommy and Obi. Also mourning his loss are his loving family: his mother Mariam Moore-White (Alex); sisters Devon (Leeford), Avril (Fred), Mayday (David), Angela, Patricia, Marcia (Herman), Carol (Rueben), Jasmine and Jacqueline (Ralph); brothers Gary (Averial) and Clive (Joan); and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

He is reunited with his grandfather, brother Harold, his father Walter Sampson, his Aunt Freda, Aunt Gwen Minto-Sampson, Gwendolyn Smith, and Aunt Ivy. They will surely welcome him with open arms.

Affectionately known as a beloved husband, father, papa, brother, uncle, nephew, and friend, Calvin had a remarkable gift for bringing light and laughter wherever he went. His legacy is one of love, kindness, and joyful memories that will live on in the hearts of all who were lucky enough to know him.

A Memorial Service for Calvin (Tony) will be held at the Benjamin Seventh Day Adventist Church, 2200 Benjamin Avenue, Ottawa, ON starting at 2:30 pm on Friday, July 11, 2025.

Please note that the body will not be in state.

The repast following the service will be a private gathering for family members only. We hope you understand our need for privacy as we grieve together.

Donations can be made in Calvin’s honour to the Irving Greenberg Family Cancer Centre.

"Death leaves a heartache no one can heal; love leaves a memory no one can steal."
