STORY, BRUCE

August 4, 1943 – April 13, 2022

Bruce was a beloved family man who lived for his wife Linda and was fiercely proud of his three daughters Shannon, Tara and Eden.  His favorite activities included spending time with his six grandkids, reading the newspapers over countless cups of coffee and enjoying a craft beer on the back deck surrounded by friends and family. He was an avid walker, whether it be hiking his favourite trails around the Kanata Beaverpond, exploring the world travelling with Linda and friends, or proudly carrying his own clubs while walking all 18 holes on the golf course. He will be remembered for his unassuming kindness, balanced by his witty comments and moments of silliness. He was a constant source of love and support to his family.  We will remember him for patiently coaching his daughters’ childhood sports, our family biking trips down to the Ottawa ByWard Market and jiving our hearts out on the dance/kitchen floor.  He will live on in these memories and the countless moments we are grateful to have had with him.

Son of Lester Story (deceased) and Sarah Story (Hammell) (deceased). Beloved husband of Linda Story (Liberty).  Dear father to Shannon Story (Steve Petrie), Tara Story (Clayton Dignard) and Eden Story (Paul Marshall).  Beloved Grandfather to Graydon and Rowan Petrie, Esmé Story and Atticus Dignard, and Elle and Owen Marshall.

Bruce grew up in the Carp area and raised his family in Kanata. Bruce graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Political Science from Carleton University. He was a long-time employee at the National Research Council.  He subsequently established a successful business as an HR Consultant.

Bruce loved his life and bravely fought his premature death from cancer until his last moments.

A Celebration of Life will be held in the summer.

Donations in his name can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
