Barbara Hills

Peacefully at West End Villa on Thursday, September 12, 2013. Barbara Hills beloved daughter of the late Thorald and Minnie Hills. Predeceased by her sister and brother-in-law, Margaret and Hugh Blair. Beloved aunt "RNT Bob" of Ian (Ruth), Ross, and the late Keith (Ingrid) Blair. Loving great-aunt to Laurel (Tom), David (Becky), and Alan. Born in Manchester, England, her family moved to Canada during the depression where they settled in Toronto. She spent time in Strathroy ON, before moving to Drummondville, QC, Ottawa, Montreal, and finally back to Ottawa where she completed her career at the trade marks office in the Federal Government. An avid reader, she could speak on many topics, but was best known for her painting and paper tole work. Barb was an active member of Parkdale United Church for many decades where she could be counted on to organize the decorations for various dinners, and clothing dolls to sell at the bazaars. A celebration of her long and colourful life will be held at Parkdale United Church, 429 Parkdale Ave., Ottawa on Saturday, September 21st, 2013, at 10 am. In lieu of flowers, donations to Parkdale United Church, 429 Parkdale Ave., Ottawa, ON K1Y 1H3 would be appreciated.
