Barbara Briggs

July 9, 1936 — January 1, 2023

Westboro Chapel

Barbara Briggs passed away early New Year's Day, following complications stemming from hip surgery. She is survived by her son Matthew Briggs (Terri Blanchard), granddaughters Sophie Lalonde and Alicia Briggs, and great-grandsons Liam, Bronxton, and Tivary. She was predeceased by her husband of 34 years Allen Briggs, her daughter Laura Briggs, and her sister Nancy Thompson.

Barbara was a woman of great spirit and remained sharp and active all her life. In her early years, she worked at Best Printing, Alitalia, Air Canada, and Custom Travel Agency. In her retirement years, she focused on volunteering and getting involved in the community, teaching English as a second language, running condo boards and Red Hat Society chapters, and serving on the resident council at her retirement residence. In between, she was a loving mother to Matthew and Laura.
She will be greatly missed by her family and friends, spanning her years spent in Toronto, Alliston, Florida, and Ottawa. She loved travelling, shopping for shoes, dining out, and having a good laugh.

In her honour, a small reception will take place at Amica Westboro Park (491 Richmond Road, Ottawa) on Saturday January 14th at 2:00pm. If so desired, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.
