Archibald Macvicar

September 24, 1947 — December 11, 2022

Archibald Donald MacVicar

It is with profound sadness we announce that Arch passed away unexpectedly, but peacefully with his family by his side on December 11, 2022. He was 75.

Arch is survived by his devoted wife of 43 years, Jean (née Houghton), and his children Kaitlin (Earl), Meaghan (Adrian), and Duncan, as well as his grandsons Matthew and Austin. He is also survived by his loving sisters, Margaret Highton (the late Michael), Heather MacVicar, and Jeanette O'Neil (James).

Arch was born in London, Ontario to the late Archibald MacVicar and Anne MacVicar (née MacDonald). In his youth he was a member of the Naval Reserve and an avid rower. He excelled at many jobs, including The Pop Shoppe, Gould Signs, and Northern Life, before working as a financial accountant for Multiview Corporation for 32 years. For many years he supported youth through Scouts Canada and the Barrhaven Scottish Rugby Football Club.

Everyone who knew Arch knew him to be extremely caring, funny and smart, and so much more than words could ever express. Above all, he loved and cherished his family. He was fiercely proud of his children and of his young grandsons, and they were fiercely proud of him.

We are extremely grateful for all of the care Arch was given from the nurses and doctors at the Queensway Carleton Hospital.

There will be no funeral. Instead, a celebration of life will be held with family at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Queensway Carleton Hospital Foundation Ottawa.

Dad, Arch, Don...you are always with us; we will see you again.
