It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Anna Maria Micillo. 1939-2023
Anna was predeceased by her parents, Mario and Antonietta (né Lopez), and her daughter Laura Vidalis. She is survived by her husband Gary Blachford, her son, Serge Vidalis (Kathy), her grandson’s Tommy and Mitchell Roos, her sister Sylvana Villata, her half brothers Maurizio and Massimo Micillo of Bergamo Italy, and half sister Maria-Elena of Vienna, Austria and numerous nephews and nieces.
Anna was born in Alexandria, Egypt, just as WWII began, she immigrated to Canada in 1964 and joined the Immigration Department in 1972. She had a long and interesting career before retirement in 1998. She was a polyglot and spoke English, French, Italian, and Arabic fluently. After retirement she enjoyed herself in retirement as she accompanied Gary in his postings to Singapore, Vienna, and Damascus.
She was an avid gardener and stained glass enthusiast and a very good cook.
A visitation and memorial service will be held on Monday December 4th, 2023 at 13:00 hrs. At Tubman Funeral Home, 3440 Richmond Road, Ottawa Ontario.
