Andrea Margaret Bianco

April 12, 1944 — January 8, 2026

Andrea Margaret Bianco—known and loved by all as Andi—passed away on January 8, 2026. She lived a life defined by grace, kindness, courage, and an unwavering love for family, faith, and community.

Andi possessed a beautiful spirit—warm, generous, and strong. Family and friends were never distant in her life; she maintained deep, meaningful relationships, staying in regular contact with those she loved. Art, creativity, and her steadfast belief in and love of God were central to who she was. She was deeply proud of her Maritime roots and held a lifelong appreciation for summers spent in Shediac, New Brunswick, a place that remained close to her heart.

She is survived by her two sons, Jonny (daughter Brittany) and Bruce (children Marcus and Cormac, mother Carrie; and Harlow, mother Brandy); her sister Brenda (Blayne); and her brother-in-law Ronnie (Marg); as well as her nieces and nephews: Kelly, Allison, Kurt, and Christopher. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, David Bianco, with whom she shared a life of service, adventure, and deep partnership.

Andi adored her grandchildren and took immense pride in each of them. She delighted in their personalities, celebrated their accomplishments, and cherished every moment spent watching them grow. Being their "Nana" was one of the greatest joys of her life.

Andi shared a lasting and respectful relationship with Carrie, the mother of her grandsons Marcus and Cormac—a bond rooted in family, mutual care, and shared love for the boys.

She was like a second mother to her niece Allison, offering guidance, love, and steadfast support. Andi consistently modeled what it meant to be a strong, courageous woman—someone the girls in her lifecould look up to with admiration and pride.

The daughter of an RCMP officer, Andi spent her childhood traveling across Canada as her family followed various postings. While living in Brandon, Manitoba, during her high school debutante ball, Andi met a young artillery officer, David Bianco—the beginning of a lifelong partnership.

Andi went on to nursing training in Saint John, New Brunswick, while Dave attended officer training in Gagetown. During this time, Andi spent much of her time off in Shediac, where Dave would often meet her and drive her back to Saint John. Following the completion of Dave’s officer training, they married and began their life together.

Their journey took them to Shilo, Manitoba, where their first son, Jonathan, was born. Soon after, thefamily was posted to Hemer, Germany, and later Lahr, Germany, where Andi worked in the military hospital. In 1971, their second son, Bruce, was born. A brief return to Toronto followed while Dave attended staff college, before the family returned once again to Germany, where Andi continued her nursing career at the military hospital in Lahr.

In 1977, they returned to Gagetown, New Brunswick, where Andi worked at the Oromocto Hospital, serving in multiple departments and ultimately finishing her time there as Head Nurse of the Geriatrics Department. Around 1985, Andi and Dave—along with Bruce—were posted to London, England, settling in Pinner, where Andi continued nursing within the NHS.

A few years later, the family returned to Kingston, Ontario, eventually moving to Ottawa, and later retiring to Newboro, Ontario.

Andi was an avid gardener, reader, and—later in life—a runner. She loved knitting and embraced creativity in all forms. A devoted member of the Anglican Church, she dedicated countless hours to church life, including running children’s programs. She loved to sing and later joined choirs that toured both Canada and Europe.

Always adventurous and game for anything, Andi took up kayaking, sailboarding, and snowshoeing in her late 60s—living proof that curiosity and courage do not diminish with age.

Andi made friends wherever she went—through nursing, the Gunner family, the church community, and later at Rosepark. She will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her.

May you rest in peace, Andi, reunited with David, and smiling down on us.

With all our hearts.
