Alexei van Baaren

Alex passed peacefully on Wednesday, October 18.
Loving husband of 63 years to Vera, devoted father to Luc (Janice) and Maud, doting Opa to Madelin, Olivia and Elena.

Alex was born in Enschede, the Netherlands and emigrated with Vera and their family to Canada in 1972, staying briefly in Calgary, but settling in the Ottawa area.

Alex worked as a senior statistician at Statistics Canada as well as running and expanding Embrun Golf with Vera.
In his spare time, he loved playing cello, listening to jazz, playing chess and woodworking (especially making frames for Vera's art and rope swings for his grandchildren).

He will be greatly missed.
