Alexandre Wall

It is with immense grief that the family announces the passing of Alexandre Wall on Sunday February 1st, 2026, in Ottawa at the age of 25 after a long and difficult battle with mental illness.

Alexandre will be greatly missed by his parents Pierre Wall and Elaine Proulx, his brother Emeric, his extended family, and the many friends who supported him.

He will be especially missed by his only surviving grandparent, Lucille, with whom he shared a uniquely close bond – they were as thick as thieves (ils avaient des atomes crochus). A ringette player herself, she taught Alexandre how to skate at the age of three, one jellybean at a time.

Besides jellybeans, Alexandre enjoyed playing many sports including hockey, skiing, and golf. A Bulls fan, his favorite sport to watch was basketball and he loved to listen to game blogs. He found pleasure in the outdoors especially canoeing and took long walks every day.

Alexandre excelled at board games like Catan and at playing cards; he never tired of explaining the rules - particularly to his mom. Despite offering tips and advice to other players during the games, he still managed to win most of the time.

Alexandre wasn’t particularly talkative, but when he spoke, his words carried meaning. He listened with care and attention, offering quiet presence to those who shared with him.

Alexandre’s life contained both light and struggle. He is remembered for his sharp mind, his wit, and capacity for joy – qualities that defined him. His legacy lives on in the laughter he sparked, the games he loved, and the meaningful connections he formed, which those who loved him will carry forward.

A private funeral service for Alexandre will be held at a later date.
