Ottawa

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Sandra “Ning” Doak. She died peacefully with her family by her side on January 25, 2024.

Lifetime companion to Karl Dunker, beloved mother of Sylvia (Sharon), Colin (Sarah), and Gavin (Victoria), and cherished grandchildren Kayleigh, Cameron, Avery and Keira.

Born March 25, 1942, in Dunblane Scotland, Sandra lived a life marked by kindness and commitment to her family. She was a devoted mother showering her children with unwavering love and support throughout their lives. Sandra’s love extended to her grandchildren, who were an immense source of joy in her life.

In addition to her role of loving partner, mother and grandmother, Sandra was known for her passion for caring for others. Her most notable contribution being her extensive nursing career, which began in Scotland at the Stirling Infirmary, until her retirement as Team Leader of the High Risk Labour and Delivery Unit at the Ottawa Hospital General Campus.

Sandra was a proud member of the Maple Leaf Almrausch Club where she made many dear friends. She was an active board member and contributed her time and talents in coordinating club events. Her compassionate nature touched the lives of many, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.

Sandra’s memory will be forever cherished by her partner, children and grandchildren. As they navigate the difficult days ahead, may they find solace in the countless beautiful memories and the enduring love she shared with each of them.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation  in Sandra's honour.
