Passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 1, 2025. Alan was hard-working and dedicated. He spent more than 30 years working in the semiconductor industry following completing his Ph.D. in Applied Physics at the University of Strathclyde, Scotland. He was well known for his significant contributions to the Canadian semiconductor industry throughout his career. Despite his many responsibilities, he was always a dedicated husband and family man. In retirement, some of his passions were gardening, travelling and cottaging.
Alan was the beloved husband of the late Francine Michelle Aitken (née Marion), loving father of James (Marie), dear brother of Marjorie (Brian) Maxwell and Lisa Stander (Adri) and dear brother-in-law of Nicole (Alan), Michel (Debbie), Luc (Joanne). Alan will be fondly remembered and missed by his nieces and nephews : Nicky (Mark), Stuart (Paige), Angela (Ryan), Chantal (Matt), Nicolas (Caroline), Jean-Luc (Adrienne), Alain (Jessica), Eric (Chantal), the late Robert (Terri Ann) and all their children Mikey, Livvy, Jade, Jared, Eva, Zoé, Annabel, Alexandre, Dominik, Eloïse, Sophie and his grand-dog Catori.
Family and friends may pay respects at the Garden Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 3440 Richmond Road, Nepean (between Bayshore and Baseline Road) on May 25, 2025 from 1h00 pm until time of Memorial in the Chapel at 2h30 pm.
