Peter Habgood

July 7, 1937 — August 28, 2021

Habgood, Peter Ernest

Peacefully at The Ottawa General Hospital with family by his side on Saturday, August 28, 2021 at the age of 84 after a courageous 15 month battle with pancreatic cancer.  Beloved husband for 63 years to Elizabeth “Betty” Lewis.  Loving father of Michael

“Mitch” (Laura), Marc ( Dawn) and Jacqui (Stephen). Proud grandfather to Wesley (Carley), Taylor, Jazmin (Michio), Natalee (Ben), Nick (Jenn), Jes (Vern) and great grandfather to Arthur and Kai.  Remembered fondly by brothers and sisters, Tony (Jane), Patricia (Brian), Bob (Ronnie) and Marilyn, nephews and nieces  in B.C., England, Wales and Australia.

A Private Memorial Service will be held at the Garden Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or Ontario Wildlife Rescue.

Peter was a professional engineer and a proud member of the Atomic Energy of Canada (Theratronics) Team for more than 30 years.

Peter and Betty brought the family to Canada from the UK in October of 1964 for a great opportunity. Mitch, born in Wales, Marc in England and  Jacqui, born in Ottawa have had every opportunity everyday thanks to mom and dad!

Peter coached many of our youth on the soccer field and hockey rinks and was a very encouraging parent to every activity his kids and grandkids took part in. Peter (and Betty’s)  favorite activities were spending time with family, the more the better, the bigger the better and always  excited to host family from the UK, England AND Wales!

He loved spending his summers on Calabogie Lake and winters at Maple Leaf Park in Port Charlotte, Fla (who wouldn’t)!

We all know that Peter is back on the fairways now, and will never hit a bad shot again.

We know that Mary and Sid were waiting for Pete and probably fighting over his first drink, either red wine or a glass of scotch!

Peter loved to listen to the Welsh Choir, especially when brother in law Sid was singing.

More favourite pastimes of Peter’s were fishing with Mitch and Laura,  whether in Lake Ontario or the Golf of Mexico, planning the garden with Jacqui and Steve on Golden Lake and listening to the running of the horses on the Habgood Family Farm in Norwood.  And always spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren!

Peter had a great group of friends and always enjoyed his mens day at Calabogie Highlands Golf Course.

Peter was very proud of the accomplishments of his 3 children and 6 grandchildren, but it really is the other way around,  we are so proud to call you Husband, Dad, Poppa and recently Great Poppa.

Peter, Dad, Father in Law, Grandpa/Poppa, Great Grandpa, you were the best and we will miss you and have you in our hearts everyday.
