Clark, Matthew Justin

9/21/62 to 2/25/21

Matthew Justin Clark passed away peacefully in the early hours of February 25th at The Ottawa Hospital. He was 58 years old. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Ruth and Ronald. He is survived by his three sisters, Alexis, Maura and Noelle, two brothers, Kerry and John, and 8 nieces and nephews.

Justin was born in Ottawa on September 21, 1962. After spending most of his childhood years at the Rideau Regional Hospital in Smiths Falls, he spent his adult life at Ottawa Foyers Partage. With the tremendous love and support of his community, he overcame many physical challenges and spent his days at Computerwise, attended Holy Cross Church, gave inspirational presentations and enjoyed travel and bocce ball. He was a pioneer user of Blissymbols and speech generating computer technology.

He was full of life, love, enthusiasm, and thoughtfulness. He tried new things. And he inspired many with his perseverance, a favourite expression being: “I go forward”. He made friends wherever he went. He adored, and was adored by, his friends and family.

Justin’s family will be forever thankful for the kindness, the care, and the wonderful home that everyone within the Ottawa Foyers Partage community provided for him. We are very grateful for the additional support Justin received from friends and the Ottawa Foyers Partage team over the past several weeks. The family would also like to thank the wonderful staff at The Ottawa Hospital, General Campus.

Many of Justin’s friends have been in his life for decades and have made the journey with him from Rideau Regional. They have loved Justin, supported him, and made so many things possible for him. The family is profoundly grateful for their presence in his life.

Justin will be interred beside his parents at Merivale Cemetery. A celebration of life will take place when circumstances allow.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Ottawa Foyers Partage (ottawafoyerspartage.org).
