Julia Fulton

March 31, 1963 — October 10, 2020

Julia Maureen Fulton

Julia passed peacefully from a life lived with joy, laughter, determination, and passion on Saturday October 10, 2020, after a courageous battle with cancer, supported and surrounded by the love of family and close friends.

Julia is survived by the three loves of her life, her partner Raj Kapoor, and her children Tylar and Maya. Cherished daughter of Michael and Joy, loving sister of Debra and Stephanie, Julia will also be sadly missed by her many friends and colleagues whose hearts she touched with her kindness over the years. She is also deeply missed by the family feline, Spike.

For over 5 years, Julia, with the most incredible determination, battled and fought breast cancer. Even when in unimaginable pain, or losing her hair, Julia rarely complained and never gave up. Instead she focused her attention on getting well, her family, and ensuring her situation would not impact her children’s joy and wonder of the world. Special thanks to the doctors and nurses at the Queensway Carleton Hospital, the General Hospital, and the OICC, for their compassionate care and support.

Julia was an extremely kind and giving soul, always thinking of other’s needs first. A soul so pure that animals would sometimes fearlessly walk up to her. Julia also had a true gift and passion for children. After completing her undergraduate degree in Montreal, she spent time teaching young children in Japan, loving every minute of it, as did the children and their parents. Their gifts of appreciation adorn Julia’s home to this day. Julia returned to Canada, and after short stints in finance, fashion, and politics, went back to school in Ottawa to get her MBA. This was followed by the start of her family, as well as interesting work at Climate Change & Environment Canada. Julia devoted much of her focus to the care and upbringing of her children Tylar and Maya, teaching them so many wonderful things.

Julia was also very athletic and competitive in any sport she undertook. She very much enjoyed running. Even during her battles with cancer, “I’m heading out for a quick run” she would say, and upon her return there would always be a look of peace and a beautiful smile on her face.

A private family service was held on Saturday October 17th. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to do good in her name are encouraged to make memorial donations to charities that support and benefit sick children, such as CHEO and Roger Neilson House.
