Glenn Robert Carswell
January 20, 1941 – January 27, 2023
It is with great sadness that the family of Glenn Robert Carswell announces his passing on January 27, 2023, at the age of 82. Born and raised in Bryson, Quebec, Glenn was predeceased by his parents, Robert and Elizabeth Ann (Donnelly) Carswell and his sister Ruth Ann and is survived by his little brother and best friend, Andre Dulude. He will be dearly missed by his wife and love of his life, Jane (Gauthier), his daughter Anne Marie (Tom Hayhurst), his grandchildren Jeffrey Biscope, Peter D’Angelo (Melissa O’Donnell) and Lianna D’Angelo, his adopted daughters (Lynn Broughton and Lynne Lacombe), his loving neighbours, numerous relatives and friends as well as his much-loved family of pets.
As a man of strong character and wit, Glenn was a fearlessly independent, determined and hardworking person with an unwavering sense of loyalty. A talented athlete, he was a runner, an adventurer, a kayaker and played organized hockey and baseball in both the Pontiac and Ottawa. Glenn was an active senior who will be fondly remembered by his friends from Dovercourt and the former Carlingwood YMCA.
Many thanks to Dr. David Kalin and Dr. Jean Roy, Glenn’s family physicians, Darpan Ahluwalia, RHN, the Intensive Care Unit at the Civic Hospital and the Acute Care of the Elderly Unit at the Queensway-Carleton Hospital for their professional and compassionate care and support.
A private family internment will take place in the Spring of 2023. A celebration of life for all family and friends will be announced at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, the University of Ottawa Heart Institute or the Ottawa Humane Society would be appreciated by the family.
