George Dawson

September 16, 1932 — October 14, 2021

George Frederick Dawson

Peacefully, on October 14, 2021, in his 90th year, surrounded by his family.  He is survived by his wife of almost 64 years, Jane, sister Elizabeth Dawson, daughter Gail (Reg Plummer) and son Keith (Anne), granddaughter Victoria. Fondly remembered by his nieces Marilyn Burans, Barbara Clarke and Shirley Plant.  He was an entrepreneur at heart, founding several successful businesses. In all his endeavours, his honesty and work ethic were exemplary, and his priority was always the welfare of his family.  He was known for the twinkle in his eyes and his quietly mischievous sense of humour.  He enjoyed gatherings with family and friends, landscaping his rural property and carpentry/woodworking projects.

He struggled for many years with the devastating impact of spinal stenosis, but never lost his optimism and determination to continue to live life to the fullest for as long as he could. On his behalf, the family wishes to express our heartfelt gratitude to the team of the MAiD program for allowing him to leave this life on his own terms.  We would also like to express our thanks to the staff of The Queensway Carleton Hospital, The Ottawa Hospital and St. Vincent’s hospital for their exceptional care of him over the years.  Many thanks also to the staff of Bridlewood Trails for their caring support these past 18 months.

A private service will be held.  In lieu of flowers, George requests a donation in his name to the Kanata Food Cupboard.  Tributes, condolences and donations may be made at www.tubmanfuneralhomes.com
