MITCHELL

Dwight “Mitch”

1930 –2021

John Dwight Mitchell passed away peacefully at Garden Terrace in Kanata, ON on July 6, 2021 in his 91st year. Loving and beloved husband of the late Joan Mitchell (nee Lambert) for 63 years, he was predeceased by his parents John “Jack” Mitchell and Verna (Argue), his sister Audrey Regimbald, and his brother Bruce Mitchell. Cherished father of Steve (Patricia) and Bruce (Alice), Dwight is also survived by his brother Ross Mitchell. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by his extended family and many friends who he valued very much throughout his life. Born and raised in Ottawa, Dwight attended Ottawa Technical High School and spent the majority of his working career at Gloucester Hydro. He loved the sport of curling and was an active member of the City View Curling Club for over 50 years where he made many friends and enjoyed curling activities both near and far. Dwight was known for always wanting to lend a helping hand to his family and friends and in retirement was a volunteer driver for Olde Forge Community Resource Centre for 20 years. He enjoyed family gatherings, playing cribbage, travelling with friends and family, golfing, gardening, shopping at the Parkdale Market, and dining out. Always polite, kind, upbeat, and helpful, Dwight was a true gentleman in every way. Respecting Dwight’s wishes, a private service and interment of his ashes will be held at Capital Memorial Gardens. For those who wish to do so, donations in memory of Dwight can be made to a charity of your choice.
