We are sad to lose our wonderful Mum, fun-loving Nanny, cherished friend and devoted Senators fan. Mum’s 84 years were filled with lots of activity, from youth baseball to sewing, knitting, and cheating at board games. Born a McClymont in Carp, Betty had 4 siblings, Donny, Kenny, Ruthie, and David. She later married Harold William Kennedy from Dunrobin; she was a true valley girl. For Mum/Nanny, family was everything. She was very proud of her 6 children: Susan Holtom, Brenda McMurtry (John), Wendy Kennedy (John Stanton), Sarah Kennedy (John Downey), Sean Kennedy (Carolyne), Penny Kennedy. Nanny loved her 6 Grandchildren: Emily McMurtry, Madison Green (Liam), Zach Green, Courtney Kennedy (Cole), Cody Kennedy (Sammy), Kendra Gough. She also loved all of her many Grand Dogs. Betty spent several decades as a loyal and proud Nortel employee where she made many life-long friends. Mum was known for her quick wit and sense of humour. She LOVED her sports, especially her beloved Ottawa Senators and we always knew never to call when the game was on! We are extremely grateful to all of the wonderful staff at Hazeldean Gardens in Stittsville for their loving care and support. Mum’s life was enriched by the many friendships she made and as much as she will be missed by us we know she has left a huge hole in many lives. The family wishes to invite you to celebrate Mum’s life on Sunday, September 15th 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm at Napoli’s Café Restaurant, 1300 Stittsville Main St., Stittsville, On. In lieu of flowers, Mum requested donations to either the Queensway Carleton Hospital or the Ottawa Humane Society.
