Tsutomu Nishizaki

July 3, 1936 – May 26, 2026

It is with sadness that we announce the death of Tsutomu Tom (Nish) Nishizaki, at The Courtyards on Eagleson, Kanata, on May 26, 2026, just short of his 90th birthday.

Tom will be sadly missed by his family and cherished friends, some of whom were his housemates for nearly 65 years.

Tom is survived by his brother Rick. He was predeceased by his parents, Yosomatsu and Kimi (Nee Hikida), and his siblings Roy and Violet.

Born in Vancouver and raised in Kamloops, British Columbia, Tom became an engineer after studying Engineering Physics at the University of British Columbia. He moved to Ottawa where he had a long, distinguished career with the Communications Research Centre (formerly known as the Defence Research Board), designing components for space vehicles.

He was a hockey and curling enthusiast and played well into retirement.
