Hird, Lila Ann

It is with deep love, and gratitude for a life well-lived, that we say good-bye to Lila Ann Hird (née Hummel), who passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 7th, 2026, at the age of 96. She was predeceased by her beloved late husband, Major Keith Arlan Hird, and will be forever missed by her children, Steve (Debbie), Dona, Stacy and Mark (Edith). “Nana” was an adored and devoted grandmother to Geordan, Isaac, Crystal, Sasha (Ross), Christopher, Youri, Hansen, Liam, Miska, Leyla, and much loved by her great-grandchildren Lauren and Bentley.

 Lila was born in Chesterville, Ontario on June 13th, 1929 — the second youngest in her family of five children. As an adult, she was a keen sportswoman, who enjoyed curling, golf, bowling, cheering for her beloved Ottawa Senators, and dancing with husband, Keith. Lila was also very active in her community, particularly within her church. Throughout her life she brought tremendous joy, humour and love to her family and friends. She will be dearly missed, but forever in our hearts and traditions. 

A private funeral service to celebrate Lila's life will be held at Merivale United Church on Saturday, May 2nd, 2026, with a private interment beforehand.
