Obituary

It is with deep sadness that the family announces the passing of Jill Norma Hyde-Clarke on April 27, 2026, on her 77th birthday.

Born in Ottawa, Ontario, Jill was the beloved daughter of Ronald Alexander Hyde-Clarke and Norma Leapha Hyde-Clarke (née Stewart). She lived a life marked by compassion, resilience, and dedication to others.

Jill devoted much of her working life to the nursing profession, where she cared for others with skill, kindness, and commitment. Her career reflected the generosity and strength of character that defined her life.

Jill had a love of travel, especially her trips to Germany, and found peace and joy on the coast of Vancouver, a place she held close to her heart. She also loved watching soccer and took great enjoyment in the excitement of the game. Jill loved to laugh and brought warmth and humour to those around her. She enjoyed sharing good food with friends, always valuing the simple pleasure of good company. She loved singing with her choir and taking part in song circles, both of which brought her joy, connection, music, and lasting friendships.

She was a proud and loving mother to her son, Sefton Ryan Raymond Hyde-Clarke, and a dear mother-in-law to Geneviève Marie Gavigan. She deeply loved her grandchildren: Desmond Jack Hyde-Clarke, Celeste Lily Hyde-Clarke, and Keith Sefton Hyde-Clarke, and treasured every moment spent with them.

Jill will be remembered for her caring nature, her laughter, and the love she shared with those around her.

She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her. A celebration of life will be held in late spring 2026.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ottawa Heart Institute or Canadian Amateur Musicians, Musiciens amateurs du Canada (CAMMAC) in her name.
