Obituary

Isabella passed away peacefully Monday, February 2nd, 2026 at the Civic Hospital, surrounded by family and loved ones.

Born in St Mary, Jamaica, West Indies to the late Lucy Newland and John Weir. Loving mother of Deborah (Debbie), Renford Jr. "Mr. Bojangles" and cherished grandmother of Malakai. Predeceased by daughter, Jacqueline, and siblings Deval, Donnie, Norma, Sonny, Joshua, Lizoney, and Ivan.

Survived by sister Mable (Jamaica), Francis and Haye families (cousins), and many nieces, nephews and extended family members living in Canada, Jamaica, the United Kingdom (UK) and the United States of America (USA).

Matriarch to family home and abroad. Beloved by everyone who knew her, leaving an indelible mark on those privileged to meet her. To seek better opportunities she immigrated to Canada in early 1970’s. She devoted herself, wholeheartedly, to ensuring her family and loves ones were always cared for. This devotion was also seen in how she cared for and served her residents with compassion and excellence spending more than 35 years in healthcare.

Her love for food was evident; she was an exceptional cook who could make the most challenging dishes appear effortless. After retiring, she took an active role in church, community and social events, where, amongst other things, showcased her dancing talents. Her laughter, sense of humour and generosity will be deeply missed and remembered. The family rejoices knowing she is now resting in the arms of the Lord.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff and doctors who provided care during the past 8 years.

Celebration of life will take place at Parkdale United Church, 429 Parkdale Avenue, on Friday, March 13th, 2026 at 1:00 pm - immediately following the service, the repast will take place in Memorial Hall. Livestream link to be entered here:

Private burial will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations to May Court Hospice are appreciated by the family.
