It is with great sadness that the family of William Sheedy, announce his passing on Sunday, July 16th, 2017 at the Queensway Carleton Hospital.  Loving husband of the late Mary “Betty” Sheedy (nee Anderson), father of Andrew and Jeff, father-in-law of Sandra, proud grand-father of Jordan and Christopher.  Survived by siblings Marion(Ken), Mike(Carol), Margaret(the late Don), Kathryn(the late Larry), Helen(Ernie), Alma(Sandy), and Elva(Brian).   Predeceased by his parents Clarence and Mary(nee Donnelly) Sheedy, brothers Lornie and Vincent(Mona).  Special thanks to Dr. Paul Hacker of the Community Palliative Medicine Associates for providing superb in-home care for Bill in his last few months.  Bill was born in 1929 into what would become a large family – 4 brothers, 6 sisters.  The family owned a farm and service station in the Ottawa valley.  Bill began work for Ontario Hydro in 1946 and retired in 1986.  He did civil engineering work on various hydroelectric projects including – Des Joachims, Niagara, and Little Long Rapids.  He met Betty Anderson in 1957 while working at the Silver Falls Generating Station.  They were married in 1959.  Bill was dedicated to his wife, children and grandchildren.  He enjoyed music and was an avid sports fan.  While usually quiet and reserved, he could deliver just the right one liner at just the right time to keep everyone entertained.   We will miss him.  A visitation will be held at the Garden Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes,3440 Richmond Rd, Ottawa (at Bayshore Drive) on Tuesday, July 25th at 10 a.m. until time of service in the chapel at 11 a.m., followed by a lunch reception.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Irving Greenberg Family Cancer Center.
