SOUTHCOTT, The Venerable Harvey Frank,

of Ottawa and London, Ontario.

June 23, 1925 – August 6, 2018.

With sadness, but also peace, Harvey’s family announces his passing, at age 93, at the Perley and Rideau Veterans’ Health Centre. Son of the late Fred and Dorothy Southcott of London. Beloved husband for 62 years of the late Eleanor Jeane Southcott (née Ball, deceased 2011). Much loved father of the late Mary Assef (deceased 2001), Susan Southcott (Alan Eakin) and Rob Southcott (Elisabeth Nicholson). Loving grandfather of Dallas Southcott, Matthew Eakin and Carmen Nicholson. Predeceased by his sister Jean Heathfield. Harvey earned degrees at both the University of Western Ontario and Sir Wilfred Laurier University, and was a retired Archdeacon in the Anglican Church of Canada. He was Rector of parishes in southern Ontario, Ottawa and Carleton Place, and was Diocesan Commissioner in Ottawa. He was also a co-founder of Renison College at the University of Waterloo, a television host at CJOH-TV in Ottawa, and an inspired carpenter at the family cottage on Lac Bernard. Burial has taken place at Pinecrest Cemetery in Ottawa. A service to celebrate his life will take place at Christ Church Cathedral, 44 Sparks Street, Ottawa, on Monday, September 17, 2018 at 2 p.m. Visitation will take place the same day from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. and a reception will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be directed to the Perley and Rideau Veterans’ Health Centre Foundation.
