I just learned of Bob's passing in the Retired Teachers Newsletter. I will always be grateful for getting my first teaching job in Ontario when Bob, principal at Eastdale Collegiate, hired me. Bob made a deep impression on me: Bob was an outstanding educator and leader; he built an extraordinary democratic, inspiring and empowering learning culture at Eastdale. In the years after his retirement from teaching our paths met only occasionally but each year I loved reading his annual Christmas letter. I miss him and regret I will no longer receive his friendly Christmas letters. My condolences to all his family and friends.

Bob was my Principal at Eastdale and this school was a reflection of Bob. There was understanding, compassion, acceptance and sense of extended family. It was a true blessing having Bob to help me transition into adulthood. Bob possessed the wisdom of Solomon and the patience of Job and generously shared this with his students. My life has been eternally enriched by having him in my life. He may be gone but he will never be forgotten by myself or classmates. My deepest condolences to his family . RIP Mr. Beardsley ??

My condolences to John and family. Reading your father's obituary in the Ottawa Citizen set me on a string of very happy memories of him as a Grade 9 teacher in Huntsville and of you, many years later as my student in History and Geography at Lord Lansdowne Public! I hope the years have been as good to you as they have to me. Pat Stinson Reid...Kemptville. Breid10271@aol.com
