With heavy hearts we announce that Mary passed away peacefully at home after a courageous battle with cancer. Beloved wife to Bohdan (Dan) Galuga. Mother to Elizabeth (Ron Doering). Grandmother to Julia Doering (Herbert Thompson). Great-grandmother to Baby Vincent. She was predeceased by her parents Anastasia and Douglas Hann of Port-aux-Basques Newfoundland, brother Sidney, brother-in-law John Smyth and former husband Barry Dawson. Mary will be sadly missed by her brother Clayton Hann and sisters Myrtle Smyth, Menetha (Sid) Dyke, Karen (Bob) Savery and sister-in-law Judy. Cherished Aunt to Mary, David, Jane, Stephen, Susan, Peter, Douglas, Jennifer, Jarrod, and Thomas. Remembered by Jake, Lise, Sophie and Madeleine Galuga. Mary enjoyed successful careers at Mechron Engineering and Canada Post. The family was proud of her recent novel, “Anastasia’s Journey” detailing her mother’s early years in outport Newfoundland. Mary was known for helping others. She was an active member of All Saints’ Anglican Church and St. Matthias. Mary was happiest when entertaining family and friends. Cremation and private memorial service have already taken place. For those wishing, a donation in memory of Mary may be made to the Bishop Jones Memorial Hostel Group Scholarship Fund.
