CROSIER, Joy

(nee Burberry)

1924 – 2019

Joy Crosier passed away peacefully at the Queensway Carleton Hospital on January 3, 2019 at the age of 94 years. Joy was predeceased by her devoted husband of 60 years, Archie (2007) and loved by her four boys: Peter (Jane, deceased), Kim (Elizabeth, deceased), Jonathan (Petra) and Jeremy (Nadine), her sister, Edna Garrett, (deceased) and her grand- children; Matthew (Valerie), Benjamin, Rebecca, Jeffrey, Jessica, Emily, Sara, Ashley and great grand-children; Catherine, Alexander and Tessa. She was also a beloved aunt to Jean and Donna. Joy was born on May 1, 1924 in Crookham, England and was the daughter of the late Percival and Elsie (Ivil) Burberry. On April 6,1947, Joy married Archie Crosier, a WW II Veteran, and shortly after moved to Whitby, Ontario to begin a life in Canada. Let it be said that England was never far from Joy’s thoughts! Throughout her long work life, ever resourceful and industrious, Joy worked as an Office Administrator. Joy was an avid tennis player and known as being a formidable opponent in any sport that involved a racquet. Playing piano was a life-long passion, a hobby she enjoyed well into her 90’s. She loved her cottage on the Big Rideau and all manner of gardening. Joy was known for her absolute devotion to her family, holding long standing friendships and service to her community Church (Stittsville United Church). She was known to touch many with her kind and loving heart that always mixed in a healthy dose of humour. A special thanks to the caring, dedicated staff at Bridlewood Trails Community Residence and, in her final days, the staff in the ACE unit at the Queensway- Carleton Hospital. In lieu of flowers, memoriam donations to the Queensway Carleton Hospital Foundation are appreciated. Funeral Services will be held on January 26, at 11o’clock at Stittsville United Church, 6255 Fernbank Road, Stittsville followed by a reception at the church.
