WILLIAMS, Helen Claire (née Kennedy)

Aug 4, 1925 to Dec 19, 2016

In the wee, small hours of the morning, with her daughters by her side, Helen left us to start her final journey. Joining her husband Cymryd (Cym) Williams and sister Lois (Jim Whiting) she will be missed by her daughters Pamela of Duncan and Lyn Hall (Steve) of Ottawa. Also missed by granddaughters Erin, Alison and Meaghan, as well as brother, George Kennedy (Ruth) of Dunrobin and sister, Jean Cartwright of Cranbrook, B. C. and family on both sides whom she loved very much.

Helen was born and raised in Dunrobin then completed her nurses training at the Ottawa Civic hospital in 1947. She worked at hospitals in Ontario and the Kootenay Valley in B. C., travelled to England twice then continued her studies at Queen’s to become a Public Health Nurse. Returning to work in the Kootenays she met her future husband, Cym. They settled in Victoria to raise a family. Helen loved family – raising her daughters, planning trips to visit extended family, researching family history, welcoming nieces and nephews and, in later years, caring for Cym. She was a strong woman with a special sense of humour.

We would like to extend special thanks to Kathleen and Sharron for all their time spent with our mom as well as all the staff and families at the Peter D. Clarke Centre who, through their care and compassion, have become part of Helen’s family. As you enjoy your family this Christmas we would love to collect any special memories of Helen which can be shared at

Friends and family are invited to a visitation at the Garden Chapel of Tubman Funeral Home, 3440 Richmond Road, on Wednesday, Dec 28th from 10-11 a.m. A memorial service will begin at 11 a.m. with a reception to follow.
