It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Frances Ann Blakeney on Monday, January 9th, 2017.  Beloved wife of the late William H. Blakeney.  She is survived by her son William Blakeney and his wife Ruth Henneberry, her daughter Valerie Blakeney and spouse Mark Stanich.   Dear sister of Mickey Bradley and Fern Holt.   Beloved aunt of Jim Bradley, Susan Raybould, Jeff Bradley and Andrew Holt.   Predeceased by her parents James and Stella and her older brother Norman McDiarmid.  Frances was born on the 9th Line in 1921, and went to Carleton Place High School with her sisters.   She helped support the War Effort by working as a welder and then moved to the bright lights of Ottawa where she worked in the cosmetic department of a shop.  In 1951, she married William H. Blakeney, who was the love of her life until his death in 2009.   After many years in the Maritimes, the couple returned to Carleton Place in 1993 and enjoyed retirement in a house on Charlotte St.  The family would like to express their gratitude to Sarah Bradshaw, Michelle Proulx and all of the staff at Stoneridge Manor who looked after Fran in her final stay.   We are also grateful to Dr. James Fullerton of Carleton Place for his thoughtful care of both Fran and Bill through the years.  Friends may call at  Garden Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 3440 Richmond Road (Between Bayshore and Baseline Road) on Saturday, January 14, 2017 from 3 to 5 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Sunday, January 15, 2016 at 1 p.m.
