October 6, 1923 - November 3, 2016
Service Date: November 12, 2016
Peacefully in her home, Fook Kyau Woo, went to be with her Lord on November 3, 2016. Born October 6, 1923 in Tenom, Malaysia, she lived a life worthy of aspiration: adversity overcome, family and love fully embraced. At 33 and pregnant with her sixth child, she lost her husband to kidney failure. In the midst of that storm, she managed to raise those six kids as a single mother in rural Malaysia, sending them all to post-secondary education and ultimately all to successful lives in Canada and Scotland. Beloved mother to Chee Vui (Yen), Chee Kong (Bey Bey), Bih Yen, Bih Kun (Kim Fong), Chi Khen (Anita), Chee Chung (Nien Tsung), adored by her grandchildren Richard (Clare), Michele (Karl), Howard (Joyce), Dorothy (Thomas), Deanna, Timothy (Angela), David (Joanie), Melissa (Joe), Aaron (Priscilla), Nora (Dilane), Joseph (Elin), Shyong En, and Alicia, legendary Tai Tai to her great grandchildren Emily, Ramona, Kaia, Kaelyn, Kaden, Logan, Ella, Micah, Naomi, and Callum. We are comforted by the warmth of our memories: her legendary home-cooked feasts and doh-sah baos, her display of relentless stamina in mah-jong marathons, the soft refuge of her embrace, her gracious smile. Our peace comes in knowing she now rests in the eternal joy of the presence of our Lord. The funeral service will be held at the Garden Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 3440 Richmond Road,Ottawa, on Saturday, November 12. Visitation will be from 12 pm to 1 pm. The funeral service will begin at 1 pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Ottawa Chinese Alliance Church.
