Ann; I am so sorry to hear of the passing of your daughter, Fiona. Does she ever look like her mom! You likely recall that two years ago we lost my step-son, Isaac. I've been journeying with my wonderful wife, Dawn, through the process of a mother's grief. Everyone's journey is unique, but I believe there is an unfortunate bond between mothers who have experienced the death of a child. My heart breaks with yours and your family's as you experience these very difficult days. I will remember you folks in prayer and hope that your memories are vibrant and include times of laughter and smiles along with all the other emotions (which isn't even a strong enough word) you are facing. May your memories bring you joy and may you experience peace. Praying for you at this time. Allan

Dear Anne, Gary Alixe and Meaghan, I was terribly saddened to hear of the passing of Fiona. I only wish I had known sooner so I could have paid my respects in person. Fiona was a wonderful person whom I had the pleasure of keeping in contact with every few years since we were kids. I shared countless wonderful memories of growing up across the street with Fiona, Meaghan and Alixe. Fiona was a kind soul, an exceptional person and dear childhood friend. My deepest condolences.

Dear Gary Ann and all family I cannot express in words how I feel, nor can I imagine the pain and sorrow you are in . I didn't have time to attend her memorial service, but I am only going to smile and remember the good and funny times at your house with Granny when the girls laughing everyone hustling to get ready for school, haha except Alexe, Fiona and Meaghan trying the best . I pray now that Fiona is at peace she was a loving child, girl and woman. Bless your family

To Ann, Gary, Alixe, Meags, John, and Maggie: My most sincere and deepest condolences to you. My heart aches for you all during this tragic and devastating time. Fiona was such a wonderful woman. I will cherish the years we were friends in middle school and high school, though with Fiona it was truly 'friends forever'. I will always remember her bright smile and warm heart, and fierce, loving, competitive nature, and of course, our old shenanigans. You all must have so many wonderful loving memories together as a family, and so many people who love you so much surrounding you, I hope they get you through this tough time. Take care of each other. Much love, Sam

To the Hysert Family, I am still shocked by this terribly unexpected news but I can only imagine it is a fraction of what you are feeling at the moment. I was a colleague and friend of Fiona's in both Ottawa and Seoul and would like to extend my sincerest condolences to you all. What I loved most about Fiona was how fiercely loyal she was. Once you became a friend of Fiona's you were a friend for life and while distance has separated us for some years now, she was always someone I knew I could count on. What I will miss most about Fiona is her exuberant, enveloping, infectious laughter. It gave you a feeling that was not quickly forgotten, something I hold on to dearly in her memory now. All my love and support during this difficult time, Graham

The photo that the Hysert family chose of Fiona is very fitting as it shows that lovely warm and welcoming smile that greeted one and all who visited their family home. I first met Fiona at an Open House at the Hysert home. I was so impressed with her energy and enthusiasm. She graciously made Fraser and I feel “at home” with a family we were just getting to know. Over the years I followed both her academic and athletic accomplishments and I know her parents were so proud of her efforts. My most recent time spent with Fiona was on a golf course. Suffice to say that she was hitting that ball further than me in spite of the fact that she had only played the game a few times! I extend our most sincere sympathy to Ann, Gary, Meaghan, John, wee Maggie and Alixe who loved her so well. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Catherine and Fraser
