Unfortunately I was out-of-town or I would have been able to deliver my condolences personally last Friday. Mr. Montagano was a true gentleman in every sense of the word. I was working as the office manager/assistant to the GM, Brian Kilrea, way back in the 1970's when Mr. Montagano "bought into" the 67's. He was a dream to work with...so kind, so practical, so generous....and I felt very sad when I read of his passing. When the team went to the Memorial Cup for their first time in Vancouver, Mr. Montagano "enlisted" me to take care of our many fans who made the trip and we worked together to come up with a fun daytime schedule for our fans to participate in! That "project" was the closest Mr. Montagano and I worked on something together and I will remember his humour and knowledge always as we put it all together in a matter of days!! While we were in Vancouver, he was always there to make sure that I had all the resources I needed (for press packages, etc.) to get the job done as well as "keeping an eye on me" like a father would (I was 20 years old at the time). Brian, Mr. Montagano and I shared a lot of laughs together and I will be forever grateful that I had the opportunity to work alongside this wonderful man. I have fond memories of Mrs. Montagano as well....now both of them can look over you all from above. My sincere condolences on your loss. Take care.
