Amelio (Tony) Antonello

(1916-2017)

Our kind, gentle and loving Dad passed away peacefully on May 2, 2017, surrounded by his family singing him on to his eternal life in Heaven. Tony was just shy of his 101st birthday. Treasured father of Roma (Greg Harris), Anthony (Maureen), Bruce (Sue) and Eric (Carolyn). Proud Grampa of Kelsea, Stuart, Cathlin, Michael, Matthew, Mark, Chris and Kim and Great-Grampa to 5 great-grandchildren. He is survived by his loving sister Ebbie MacDougall and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by the love of his life, Rita (nee Renaud), his parents Luigi and Roma Antonello, brother Enso, sister Linda MacLean and two older siblings who died in Italy before his parents immigrated to Canada. The family would like to thank the staff and volunteers of the Perley and Rideau Veterans Health Centre (PRVHC), especially the staff of R2S who were always so kind to Dad, Dr. Uppal who helped us to understand, nurse Brenda who helped us through the final stages, and to Paulette, Zeleke, Kelsea and Clerene who were there to help when needed. In my Dad’s words “Thank you for Everything”. Friends may call at the Garden Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 3440 Richmond Road (between Bayshore and Baseline Road) Nepean on Wednesday May 10, 2017 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A service will be held at the Perley and Rideau Veterans Health Center, 1750 Russell Rd., Ottawa on Thursday May 11 at 1:00 p.m. A final thank-you. The Antonello Family would like to take the occasion of our father’s passing to offer a profound thank-you to our sister Roma, and brother-in-law, Greg, who’s unfailing devotion, care, support, and love guided both Rita and Tony through their final years. Thank you and may God bless you.
