Tubman Absolute Care Seminars

Help Beyond the Funeral.

At Tubman, we understand that mourning does not end with the funeral.

Tubman is different in that we continue to help the families we care for after the funeral.  Families and friends are invited to attend a series of informational seminars or bereavement support sessions like Living with Grief and When a Pet Dies. Many of our families attend the bereavement support sessions more than once and will also attend our Holiday Help session. Tubman has been hosting families at the Holiday Help seminar for over 20 years. The session not only gives grieving families coping strategies for the holiday season but also support and guidance and is a tribute to the loved ones they have lost.

We also offer practical seminars such as Help for the Executor, The Importance of Wills and Powers of Attorney and Understanding Funeral Planning. These seminars help explain the different and difficult decisions that need to be made when planning and the benefits of pre-arranging a funeral. They also explain the important questions you need to ask of yourself to plan for your family’s peace of mind.

You are invited to attend any of the free seminars listed below.

To register for a seminar, please call 613-688-2857. or email seminars@tubmanfuneralhomes.com

Help for the Executor

At Tubman Funeral Homes, we understand intimately that dealing with loss does not end with the funeral experience. There are many details to be attended to afterwards: government forms must be completed; utilities, insurance companies and pension plans notified; credit cards, subscriptions and memberships cancelled. It can seem overwhelming. We believe that no one should be alone in dealing with these tasks. That’s why we’ve introduced a free After Care Program to the families we serve.

This program offers continued support and guidance related to the tasks required to begin the administration of an estate after the funeral.

Join us to learn what you need to know and how we can help you deal with these obligations.

Understanding Funeral Planning

Funeral arranging is a subject that is becoming increasingly confusing to many people. Let Tubman Funeral Homes explain what decisions need to be made when arranging a funeral.

Some of the topics that will be covered are cremation, burial, traditional funerals, memorial services, government regulations, pre-planning and many others.

Living with Grief

Living Through Grief is an ongoing seminar series lead by a grief educator, Barb Richardson.

The loss of someone you love is very traumatic. In our continuing effort to be of assistance to the community, we offer this seminar. While there is opportunity for discussion and questions, you are more than welcome to just come and listen.

The seminar leader, Barbara Richardson, has worked in the area of grief for the past twelve years. Her background as a pastor, high school teacher, and seminar leader, has given her personal insights into the area of grief, death and dying. As our population ages, leaders need a compassionate understanding of the dynamics of grief, sorrow and loss. Barb is able to provide this in a simple yet challenging manner.

Labyrinth Walk

A Labyrinth Walk is the ancient practice of "Circling to the Centre" by walking the labyrinth. Since the early 1900s, there has been a resurgence of interest, and many modern day uses are applied. Grief Educators find them to be a great tool for people suffering the loss of a loved one, as the labyrinth remains a metaphor for an individual's journey through life.

" I never would have thought of having to cancel her subscriptions. "

In the wake of a loved one’s passing, there are numerous details that require your attention. Some are obvious. Others aren’t. Cancelling subscriptions and services like lawn maintenance are among the tasks that shouldn’t be overlooked.
