Louis passed away suddenly in hospital. Beloved husband of Irene (nee Horvath), loving and proud father to Steve (Davina), and stepfather to Irene (Stephen), Marian (Henry), Judy (Jeff), Christine (Sean) and his eight grandchildren. He is survived by his sister Ilus and many relatives in Hungary. Louis was founder of the Ottawa Hungarian Community Centre and past president for more than 20 years. His dedication earned him community service honours from the Hungarian Government and the Government of Canada. Family and friends may pay their respects at the Garden Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 3440 Richmond Road, Nepean (Between Bayshore Dr. and Baseline Rd) on Thursday, May 23rd from 2 – 4 & 7 – 9 pm. Peacefully on Sunday, May 19th, 2013 in her 90th year. Beloved wife of the late Donald H. Dinsdale. Loving mother of Douglas Dinsdale (Debbie) and Margaret Dinsdale. Grandmother of Kelly Geddis (Colin), Dawn Dinsdale-Gelinas (Marcie), John Dinsdale, Hamish Dodge, Alice Thorne and 4 great-grandchildren. Longtime member of the Westboro Kiwanis and the I.O.D.E. Beryl was a supporter of Dovercourt Recreation Centre and St. Joe’s Women’s Shelter. Beryl and Don started Capital Beauty Supply- Ottawa in 1956 and was just recently sold to new owners. She will be sadly missed by her extended family and friends. After a 3 year struggle with cancer, Barbara’s life journey ended on May 14, 2013. Barbara’s memory will be honoured by her husband, David, daughter Penny-Jean (Randy) Samek, grandchildren; Kevin (Autumn), Robert (Kirsten) & Michael (April) & great granddaughter Athena. She is remembered by her sister-in-laws; Shirley Stubbs, Willie Fairbrother & Dianne (Jan) Roberts and many nieces, nephews & friends. Barb was predeceased by her parents; Jean (Charter) & Harry Stubbs, her sister Virginia and brother Harvey. Barbara-Anne was born in Ottawa on February 19, 1936. She grew up in Britannia & Westboro. When she was young, she enjoyed singing in the United Church choir, horses & acting classes at the (Ottawa) Little Theatre. For many years, Barb skated with the Minto Skating Club & taught skating. She turned professional in 1952. Barb was also a model for Birks Jewellers, Caplan’s Furs & various local events. She held the position of Director of the Civil Service Recreation Association for a few years in the late 1950’s. Barb enjoyed travelling with her friends. Barb married David Fairbrother on June 6, 1959 in Ottawa. When David left the RCAF in 1969, he, Barb & Penny moved to Stittsville to open Pixie Garden Centre & eventually added Pixie Florist. Barb also worked for many years for the Stittsville News as a columnist and office staff. She was a part of the spiritual community in the Ottawa area. Heartfelt thanks to those special people whose compassion & caring assisted Barb & her family in these last few years of her journey. Special thanks to Dr. T. Asmis & his team, the staff at the cancer treatment centres at the Ottawa General & Queensway Carleton Hospitals, Dr. Virginia Hurdon, CCAC, Kathy Fyke, Chrissy PSW, and the volunteers & staff at The Hospice of May Court, Ottawa. A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 31, 2013 at the Garden Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 3440 Richmond Road, Nepean (between Bayshore Dr. and Baseline Rd.) at 2:00pm. In Royal Jubilee Hospital Victoria B.C. on Sunday, April 14, 2013 at the age of 97. Predeceased by her husband Jack in 2005. Mother of Beverley Reeves ( Peter ) Huntsville, Ontario and Murray ( Sheila ) Victoria, B.C. Grandmother of Andrea Packwood ( Ottawa, Ontario ). Predeceased by infant granddaughter Mandy Packwood. Predeceased by sister Edna Hague ( Bill ) and brothers Keith Currie ( late Ethel ), Lloyd Currie ( late Edna ), Edward Currie ( Dorothy ). Survived by sister-in-law Joan Chilcott ( late Jim ) Ottawa, Ontario and many nieces and nephews. Muriel's Currie ancestors were early settlers of the village of New Edinburgh before it was annexed to Ottawa in 1887. Her father Edward George Currie built homes there, some on Dufferin Road, Rideau Terrace and Noel Street. Many homes still stand today. Muriel was born, raised and attended Crichton Public School in the " Burg ". She was a long time employee of the Department of Agriculture at the Experimental Farm. At the young age of 90 years, Muriel left her family roots of Ottawa and moved to Somerset House ( ACTIVE ) Retirement Lodge on the ocean in Victoria B.C. There she enjoyed all the trips, activities, viewing cruise ships coming and going into and out of Victoria Harbour from her balcony. She also got on one of them for an Alaska Cruise. A memorial service will beannounced at a later date. In memory of Muriel's great passion for animals, donations to the Ottawa Humane Society would be greatly appreciated.
