Rosalyn Gail Rodgers
Friends and family lost a beautiful smile and a very unique, caring and positive person when Rosalyn Rodgers died peacefully Friday April 26th, 2013. Rosalyn had a sharp intellect, doing accounting and taxes were easy. She was competitive but fair. She took up running and did it well, same with cross country skiing. Her downhill skiing style was fearless. It was a joy to play tennis with her; it was not about the game but the people. Canoe tripping was a passion, enjoying nature and the challenge of the paddle and the portage. Golfing was a later love; the only way to the hole was over the trees. Travelling was another love, there was never enough time in the day to see everything and off the beaten path was the best. Family was important, she was caring and considerate and always willing to lend a hand. This thoughtfulness extending beyond family and her influence will continue. When diagnosed with brain cancer in January 2011, her first thoughts were of others, what can I do for them. This journey over the last two years was of living and loving, full of smiles and laughter. “Jeepers” – What else is there to be said? She will be dearly missed by her partner Ann McEwan, mother Helen Rodgers, brothers Evan (Carolyn), Graydon, nieces Alexandra and Brooke and nephew Brad, Ann's mother, Fiona McEwan and brother Hamish (Patty) and nephew Emmett. Dear friends Gary Eastman, Mary McArthur, Leila & Claire, Rena Bilton, Sandra Whittall and many more. Thank you to the staff on the 2nd floor of Smiths Falls and Perth District Hospital and Dr R Drake and staff of the Rosamund Wing of the Almonte General Hospital for the kind and considerate care over the last seven weeks. Friends may call at the Carleton Place Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 61 Lake Ave, West Carleton Place on Saturday, May 4, 2013 from 1 p.m. until time of memorial service in the chapel at 3 p.m. followed by a reception. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Accesco International (http://www.accesointernational.ca/english/donations.html), Sistering: A Womans Place (http://www.sistering.org/donate/), Watercan (http://www.watercan.com/whatyoucando/), or the charity of your choice honouring nature or helping those in need.
