Hook B. Catherine (née Bradley)
1911 – 2013
Our good old girl is gone, 4 days shy of her 102nd birthday. Catherine was a lovely, spunky and accomplished lady. She was a gifted teacher and secretary (über-grammarian), baseball, golf and bridge player, knitter, crocheter, gardener, flower arranger, cook, and lover of food. But perhaps her greatest gifts were her sense of humour, love of laughter and gracefulness. We will all miss her. Catherine was the last of the 9 children of William James and Mary Bradley of the 10th Line of Goulbourn. Predeceased by her uxorious husband Leonard, she is survived by her daughters Phyllis McIntyre (Hugh), Carol Akins (George) and Nancy Burr (the late Ron Dakers); grandchildren Philip (Chen Jie), Joshua (Elaine), and Joel (Nushi) Levy, Sally McIntyre, Bruce Akins (Trudy Chapman), Kathleen Akins (Martin Hahn); great-grandchildren Noah, Daniel, Chantel, Rachel, Sophie, and Nyla Levy, Benjamin Hutterer, Evan and Allison Akins, Majka and Lev Hahn; her loving friend Lynne Eagan; and many nieces and nephews. Many thanks to Dr. Ian Warrack, the nurses, and caregivers at Colonel By Retirement Residence for their warmth and kindness. A memorial service will be held in the chapel of the Garden Chapel of the Tubman Funeral Home, 3440 Richmond Rd., Nepean (between Bayshore & Baseline Rd.) on Tuesday, May 7th, 2013 at 11 am.
