Peacefully at Queensway Carleton Hospital on Sunday, April 7, 2013 in his 87th year. Beloved husband of the late Grace (Day). Loving step father of Heather Anderson (Bruce) and Don Clarke (Mary), Laurie Robinson (Mark), Bruce Clarke and Susan Brassard (Bruce). Loving grandfather of Shannon and Scott Anderson, Kerri Clarke (Brian), Jason Clarke (Denise), Sara Clarke (Chris), Janna Robinson (Brian), Tia Tso (Johnny) and Angela Williams (Kevin). Great grandfather of 13 great grandchildren. Predeceased by his parents Wilson and Dora Spratt and brother Merle Spratt. It is with great sadness to announce the peaceful death of our son Sam Tobias. Sam passed away at home in Kemptville in the loving arms of his parents surrounded by family. Sam has been freed after several years of great suffering from a rare genetic neurological disease called Adrenoleukodystrophy (ALD) on Friday, April 5, 2013 at the young age of 8 years. Sam is the beautiful child of Craig and Nicole (Thompson). Sam is the loving brother and playmate of Sophie. He is the sweet grandson of Edwin and Linda Thompson of Prescott and beloved grandson of John and Linda Tobias of Lansdowne. Sam is the dear nephew of Wendy Thompson (Jason White), Edwin Thompson and Krista Tobias, and many great aunts and uncles. He will be fondly remembered by his cousins Finlay, Jenna and Nathan. He will be greatly missed by his teachers and many friends at Holy Cross School in Kemptville. Sam may your smile and loving kindness shine in our hearts forever. You are amazing grace. Patricia Dumas
1943-2013
In Ottawa, on March 28th, Patricia succumbed to the after-effects of a cerebral hemorrhage, reuniting with her parents, Angelina McKoy and Johnny Dumas, her sister Evelyn and her brother John Michael. Her extraordinary vitality and her generosity will continue to inspire those who were lucky to know her, and particularly those she loved above all, her children Louis, Jean-Michel (Marie-Maude Fleury Labelle) and Julie Paré, their father Paul, her dear grand-children Olivier, Mia, Azèla, Léonie, Alexandre, Samuel, Éloïze and Dalia, her sisters Carmel (Daniel Rioux) and Teresa (Claude Couture). A natural achiever, she was successful in the performing arts before becoming a remarkable political journalist and then attaché. After retiring from politics, she became a professional translator and was in the midst of completing her doctoral degree in that field when she was struck down at a shocking speed, to the dismay of her many friends who will miss her lively and authentic companionship. Family and friends are welcome to celebrate her memory on Tuesday, April 9th, between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. in the Salon of the National Arts Centre, 53 Elgin Street, Ottawa, and Tribute will start at 2 p.m. Her remains will be put to rest next summer in the Gaspé, in the village of St-Georges-de-Malbaie where she was born.

Died peacefully on Tuesday April 2nd, 2013 at the Elisabeth Bruyere Health Centre in Ottawa, at the age of 95 years. Nic was born and raised in Glasgow Scotland. Nic’s 6 years of WWII service was spent in the battle of the Atlantic and the Atlantic Campaign before immigrating to Canada. He was the beloved husband of his wife Margaret for over 50 years. He will be sadly missed by his children James (Lisa), Janet (Richard) and also by his grandchildren Kyle and Lindsay, He will be lovingly remembered by his partner Frances Cheeseman. At Dominic’s request there will be no visitation. A memorial service for his Family and close friends will be planned at a later date. Predeceased by his first wife, Ruby (nee Evans). Survived by his second wife Myrtle Goldsworthy. Loving Dad of Gaye, Jill (Dave), Carl (Valerie).
