We respect our families and are honoured that they have entrusted us to care for their loved one and that they have chosen us to help them in their grief journey. We respect their courage and humanity as they cope with one of the most difficult times in their lives. Adults sometimes think they can spare children pain by not talking about death. But silence – or euphemisms – does more harm than good. Open, honest and loving discussions are essential, because children will grieve regardless, and they should never feel alone in their grief.
