Ruby Elva Rumsey

Peacefully, on Tuesday, July 17th, 2012 in her 98th year.  Beloved wife of 53 years to Barry.  Proud and loving mother of Catherine (James Palmer) of Ottawa, ON, Mary (Harry Ashcroft) Dartmouth, N.S., and Margaret (Max Wong), Dundas, ON.  Grandmother to Patricia (Sean Mullen), Sarah, Charles, Naomi (Gary Bartlett), Alexander (An Zhong) and Richard (Hui Zhong).  Great grandmother to Kealey and Haley.  Ruby was the daughter of the late Andrew and Bessie Farquhar of Hunts Point, N.S. and predeceased by three sisters Estelle, Frances and Beatrice.  Ruby will be greatly missed by her nieces and nephews.  Ruby spent the war years as a member of the Women’s Army Corps later working for the Annapolis Valley Regional Library Services and did countless hours of volunteer work for such agencies as the local food banks and Red Cross, but always had time for a “good” game of bridge.  There will be no funeral service by request with a committal service planned for a later date in N.S.  Donations may be made to a charity of your choice or to your local food bank.
